The Importance of Onboarding for New Hires

Abstract

Onboarding is one of the essential strategies that contribute to the success or failure of an organization since it entails the initial part of the orientation of new employees or workers into the organizational environment, goals, objectives, and systems. Onboarding links the recruitment process and employee turnover in the long run. It is responsible for making the new employees understand and appreciate the organizational practices and endure their duties to further the company’s goals (Jeske & Olson, 2021, pp. 65–69). If well done, it is possible to observe decreased turnover rates, satisfaction, and increased productivity. This essay seeks to discuss onboarding critically by focusing on the effects of onboarding on employee engagement, organizational culture, employee retention and the overall performance of organizations.
