Studies indicate emotional intelligence (EI) in educational leadership significantly influences teacher performance and student outcomes since emotionally intelligent leaders create positive school environments, enhancing teacher job satisfaction and student engagement. Research finds emotionally intelligent leaders can improve teacher effectiveness by up to 56.6%. This study is a systematic review of the literature focusing on the role of EI in school leadership and its impact on educators and students. Emotional intelligence in school leadership matters to education because strong EI-based leadership reduces teacher burnout, fosters collaboration, and enhances student well-being, ultimately improving academic performance. A systematic review is a structured approach to analyzing existing literature by synthesizing findings from multiple studies. This study utilized databases such as ProQuest and EBSCOhost, using proximity search terms to refine results. Key themes included EI’s impact on teacher morale, student engagement, and ethical concerns regarding the manipulative uses of EI. These themes are critical as they highlight both the benefits and potential risks of emotionally intelligent leadership. Future research can include quantitative studies using structural equation modeling to measure EI’s direct impact on student achievement and qualitative studies using semi-structured interviews to explore teachers’ lived experiences with EI-driven leadership.
