Transformational Leadership Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence Use in Hong Kong’s Corporate Communications Sector

Abstract

This study explored the role of transformational leadership (TL) in facilitating the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in Hong Kong’s corporate communications sector. Leaders played a pivotal role in navigating the challenges of integrating AI into the workplace within Hong Kong’s corporate communications sector. This research examined how leaders could leverage AI to address these challenges successfully from employees’ perspectives. This study employed a qualitative research design using open-ended questionnaires to explore TL perspectives on AI integration in Hong Kong’s corporate communications sector, with data collected from participants experienced in the corporate communications sector. The findings showed employees encountered several constraints in AI integration, such as low digital literacy. However, the findings also highlighted leadership can guide AI adoption to succeed through transparent communication, empowerment, and fostering an innovative culture. The research provided valuable insights into the leadership dynamics needed during the digital transition, suggesting the successful integration of AI in the corporate communications sector not only addressed operational challenges but also promoted a culture of continuous improvement within the organization and could ultimately lead to successful organizational transformation in the digital era. This study concluded TL positively influences AI integration in the corporate communications sector, providing valuable insights into current practices and highlighting areas for future research on leadership approaches in enhancing AI adoption and effectiveness.
