This study examines the role of transformational leadership in alleviating the challenges associated with adopting artificial intelligence (AI) in Hong Kong’s logistics sector. Hong Kong’s logistics industry is facing pressure to maintain its competitive position in the midst of intense supply chains, dwindling demands, and regulatory constraints. The study’s significance lies in highlighting how transformational leadership can support AI integration by addressing both the technical complexities and human factors hindering technology adoption. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data was collected through questionnaires and literature reviews, stressing on professionals within the logistics sector to understand their perspectives on leadership’s role in technology adoption. The findings reveal major transformational leadership traits—such as adaptability, emotional intelligence, creativity, and open-mindedness—are critical for accommodating employees’ reluctance to change and enhancing their readiness to embrace new technologies. Leaders exhibiting these traits foster an environment conducive to innovation and continuous improvement, the essential factors for AI implementation to succeed. Moreover, the study shows transformational leadership not only facilitates AI adoption but also serves as a motivating factor for sustainable growth and operational excellence. As a result, this research concludes transformational leadership plays a critical role in helping the logistics sector in Hong Kong realize the full potential of artificial intelligence and sustain its standing as a major global logistics hub. This is achieved by encouraging collaboration, enhancing communication, and aligning strategic goals.
