Servant Leadership Impact on Human Resource Strategies to Improve Employee Morale in India

Abstract

Employee morale and commitment in India’s corporate sector have fallen below par as there has been a steady decline in the number of people engaged at work with only 34% of Indian employees feeling engaged in India’s collectivist culture. Employees do not feel cared for in most hierarchal organizations and low morale leads to lower productivity, higher attrition, and poor organizational performance. This study is a systematic review of existing research through the synopsis of how servant leadership enhances human resource strategies and assists corporate values using Scopus, ProQuest, and Google Scholar as key databases. Findings highlight the key themes of employee engagement, ethical leadership, and cultural alignment. These elements significantly impact human resource strategies, fostering trust, motivation, and long-term retention. They are essential for developing value-driven organizations and enhancing employee experience and overall business returns. Future research can involve conducting quantitative surveys of correlations between servant leadership and job satisfaction, as well as qualitative case studies of leadership practice among Indian firms to increase the depth of cultural cues related to the role of leadership.
