The retail industry faces considerable challenges in fostering employee engagement. According to Cai et al. (2024), nearly 60% of employees in service industries feel disengaged, negatively affecting organizational performance. Disengagement leads to reduced productivity, high turnover, and poor customer service, all critical concerns for the retail sector. This study is a systematic review exploring the influence of resilience on employee engagement and how resilience impacts job satisfaction and performance by analyzing articles from databases such as Google Scholar and Sage journals. Key themes identified included the role of transformational and servant leadership in fostering resilience and the impact of organizational support on employee well-being. These themes are pivotal for improving employee engagement and reducing turnover. Future research could explore resilience’s impact on employee engagement in both Western and Asian retail contexts, providing a cross-cultural comparison. A correlational quantitative study could assess the relationship between resilience and employee engagement in retail environments in these diverse settings. A phenomenology qualitative approach could also be employed to delve into the lived experiences of the employees in these regions, offering nuanced insights into how resilience shapes their engagement and job satisfaction at a personal level.
