Studies show 54% of employees report low motivation due to traditional leadership styles that fail to promote creativity (Goestjahjanti et al., 2022). This paper explores how transformational leadership can foster creativity and innovation in IT teams, addressing the problem of ineffective management practices hindering innovation in technology sectors. The focus is on IT teams, especially in software development where leadership is critical for driving innovation and adaptation in a rapidly evolving field where creativity and innovation are key drivers for organizational success. A systematic review was conducted using databases such as EBSCO and Google Scholar to synthesize research on transformational leadership’s impact on fostering innovation and creativity in IT teams. Key themes identified include mediators of innovation, such as affective commitment and talent management, commitment to change, and organizational support for creativity to help foster a culture of innovation. These mediators are vital as they influence how leadership can enhance creativity in IT teams. Future research can employ quantitative methods to measure the impact of leadership on performance and qualitative methods to understand employees’ experiences with transformational leadership in the IT sector.
