Servant Leadership Perspectives on Iranian Employee Motivation and Job Satisfaction in Canada

Abstract

The lack of motivation and job satisfaction among Iranian employees in Canada has led to high turnover. The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of servant leadership on motivation and job satisfaction of Iranian employees in Canada. The population of the study consisted of Iranian employees across diverse industries and positions in Canada. Qualitative data was collected through an open- ended questionnaire, enabling participants to share their experiences and perceptions regarding the effect of servant leadership on motivation and job satisfaction. Content analysis revealed themes such as trust, empowerment, open communication, and fostering a supportive work environment. Analyzing questionnaire responses, a key finding was the ability of the servant leader to create empathy and support. Empathetic and supportive behavior led to heightened employee motivation, job satisfaction, and productivity. Simultaneously, employees felt a stronger sense of belonging at work. Additionally, the study underscores the importance of organizations investing in training programs to develop servant leadership skills. Future research recommendations include comparative studies examining motivation and job satisfaction among Iranian employees in East Asian workplaces. Such studies promise valuable insights into the cross-cultural dynamics and leadership practices, ultimately enhancing organizational effectiveness and employee well-being.
