Servant Leadership Perspectives on Conflict Resolution in a Canadian Church Environment

Abstract

Servant leadership practices are explored in this study to find if they enhance conflict resolution in the Canadian church environment to foster greater harmony among church members by promoting collaboration and empathy. The findings can equip church leaders with perspectives and strategies for handling disputes amicably, promoting more inclusive methods in the Canadian church environment. Our method included emailing qualitative questionnaires with open-ended questions for an in-depth understanding and valuable insights into the servant leadership perspectives of Canadian church attendees on its impact on conflict resolution. The study explored servant leadership characteristics such as empathy, active listening, and care, along with their efficacy in conflict resolution. Findings highlighted servant leadership fosters a more cooperative Canadian church environment facilitating smooth dispute resolution. The findings highlighted then importance of being sensitive to other cultures and to solve problems as they arise with a strong link between servant leadership and church member satisfaction, and this resulted in less people leaving the Canadian church. Broader implications of these findings highlight servant leadership as an effective leadership approach for resolving conflicts in the Canadian church environment. Future research can extend the scope of our study to encompass non-Christian church environments and cultural contexts beyond Canada.
