Burnout among healthcare professionals is a global crisis, affecting nearly 50% of physicians and nurses worldwide. This widespread issue has led to a 40% increase in medical errors and a decline in patient safety scores across healthcare systems (Shanafelt et al., 2019; Salyers et al., 2017). The COVID-19 pandemic worsened burnout, particularly in ICUs, emergency departments, and palliative care, accelerating staff turnover, job dissatisfaction, and workforce depletion. This study employed a systematic review of databases including PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar to analyze leadership-driven interventions and organizational interventions. Four key themes emerged: transformational leadership (TFL), workload management, psychological safety, and resilience-building strategies, all playing a crucial role in improving job satisfaction, retention, and patient care quality. These findings highlight the urgent need for evidence-based leadership reforms to strengthen workforce resilience and reduce burnout rates across healthcare systems. Future research can include quantitative longitudinal studies to track burnout trends over time and qualitative phenomenological studies exploring healthcare professionals’ lived experiences with leadership-driven interventions. Addressing burnout through systemic and leadership-focused strategies is essential for ensuring a sustainable, high-performing healthcare workforce.
