Organizations worldwide face similar challenges in terms of employee engagement, team cohesion, and workplace stress resulting in reduced productivity by 10–15%. To improve motivation and organizational success, this study explores the role of transformational and servant leadership in enhancing team performance across industries, such as healthcare, education, and corporate sectors. Enhancing team performance is critical in modern workplaces as more and more people have hybrid schedules where they may also work remotely, and adaptive leadership strategies are needed. This study is a systematic review of the literature using databases such as Google Scholar, ProQuest, Business Source Complete, JSTOR, and Harvard Business Review to study leadership effectiveness. Key themes uncovered include the leadership function in encouraging innovation, psychological safety, empowerment of employees, and workplace inclusiveness as a strategic imperative for organizational sustainable development and competitive edge. The findings suggest productivity is not without a cost to employee well-being and this warrants leadership strategies focusing on balance. Future research can involve quantitative survey-based analyses in measuring how leadership styles impact employee retention and performance in the industry and qualitative case studies on how leadership adapts to different industries such as managing diverse teams in new business environments using a blended leadership model that incorporates both transformational and servant leadership.
