The research explores the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in improving student engagement in India’s education system, particularly focusing on AI-powered virtual chat bots. The study adopts a conceptual framework based on technological integration in education, assessing the potential of AI to transform traditional learning environments by enhancing personalization, performance tracking, and engagement. The significance of this research lies in addressing the challenges faced by Indian schools, such as outdated classroom settings and limited student engagement. The study contributes to ongoing discussions about the need for technological advancement in education to meet the evolving demands of students and teachers in a digital era. A qualitative descriptive research design, including qualitative data collection through a questionnaire from participants from the Indian education system, literature review, and thematic analysis were applied to analyze the data. The results demonstrate that AI, particularly chat bots, significantly improve academic performance, school culture, and teacher satisfaction. Chat bots enhance learning by offering customized support based on individual student needs, promoting self-paced learning, and providing instant feedback. The findings suggest that while AI has a positive impact on engagement, several hurdles remain, such as concerns about data privacy and infrastructure. These results highlight the need for continuous updates, ethical governance, and robust feedback mechanisms to ensure the successful integration of AI into India’s education sector. In conclusion, the study contributes valuable insights into the benefits and challenges of AI-driven education, with implications for policy development and future research on scalable and ethical AI solutions for diverse educational settings.
