Teacher retention is a global concern, with annual attrition rates reaching 8%, impacting school stability and student performance. High turnover disrupts instructional quality and increases recruitment costs. Transformational leadership plays a key role in reducing attrition by fostering motivation, vision, and job satisfaction. This study employs a systematic review of the literature, a structured method of synthesizing research, to analyze how leadership influences teacher retention. Key databases such as Google Scholar and Pro Quest were used to identify peer-reviewed studies from 2016-2024. The study highlights the three major themes of leadership-driven job satisfaction, institutional climate, and mentorship support are critical in shaping leadership training, policy, and institutional strategies to improve teacher retention. Strong leadership fosters workplace morale and engagement, reducing turnover rates, and strengthening leadership development programs is vital for improving job satisfaction and institutional stability. Future research can include quantitative survey-based studies to measure retention trends and qualitative phenomenological studies to explore teachers’ lived experiences under transformational leadership.
